Gather Ingredients, Cook Food and Collect It
Emberville’s Prologue introduces crafting through gathering materials and food, then using a campfire to cook healing supplies such as Roasted Meat. Queue your food, let the station work, and collect the finished items before using them from your inventory or belt.
Gather Ingredients and Cook at a Campfire

Select an available food recipe, such as Roasted Meat, to add cooking work to the queue. Use the recipe and materials displayed in your menu to decide what to make. The Prologue starts with limited recipes, so begin with the options your station currently offers.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Collect the finished food from the station before trying to use it. Completing the queue and collecting its output are separate parts of the process. A cooked-looking picture in the queue does not, by itself, mean the food has finished or reached your inventory.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Find Queued Food and Collect Finished Items
If the cooking screen feels confusing, distinguish queued work from finished food. Food icons can already resemble the cooked result while production is still waiting or underway. Check the station’s progress and finished output before deciding that a batch has disappeared.
After collecting food, check your belt as well as your inventory. The demo can equip cooked steak automatically, making the belt another place to inspect when food is not where you expected. Review those slots before returning to the campfire to cook a replacement.
Turn Unwanted Equipment Into Crafting Materials
The Prologue also introduces a small equipment-crafting loop. A recycling station turns unwanted gear into materials, and limited crafting interactions let you make equipment. This gives spare loot a practical use alongside gathering.

Choose an available armor recipe to turn materials into gear. Trousers can be made and collected during the Prologue, giving you a concrete introduction to equipment crafting. Compare the finished piece with your current equipment before deciding whether to equip it.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
What the Prologue Introduces and Early Access Expands
| System | Where It Fits |
|---|---|
| Gathering and campfire cooking | Available during the Prologue: collect resources and ingredients, then cook healing supplies at a campfire. This is the immediate preparation loop to learn before pursuing broader building goals. |
| Learning station recipes | Crafting stations have their own recipes. The tutorial names NPCs, books, quests and the corresponding crafting mastery as ways to learn more; work with the recipes currently available at your station. |
| Crafting mastery professions | The menus show alchemy, armor smithing, carpentry, cooking, jewel crafting, leather working, tailoring and weapon smithing. These categories do not mean every profession is fully accessible in the Prologue. |
| Farming and your Estate | The broader Early Access experience is announced to expand farming and base building. Your personal space is presented as customizable with buildings, furniture, plants and decorations, beyond the Prologue’s introductory crafting route. |
| Restoring Emberville | Town rebuilding belongs to the announced Early Access experience. Rescued villagers bring skills and help restore homes, while gathering and crafting professions support the town’s recovery. |
Early Access is scheduled for October 27, 2026, beginning with the first major biome and broader crafting and building. Expansion to nine biomes is planned during development, while co-op is planned for 1.0. Those later additions sit beyond the campfire cooking and limited crafting introduced in the Prologue.
Continue With Your Next Fest Progress
Progress from the public Steam Next Fest Demo carries into Early Access, allowing you to continue from where you left off. Saves from the earlier creator and press preview do not carry over. Keep that distinction in mind if an older playthrough says that demo progress will be lost.
